OCTOPUS MASK
"We can add additional text here if needed"
When I was living in Juneau right after carving the Eaglet mask. I asked Ray Watkins if he had a larger piece of alder blocked out for an Eagle that I can have. So I started carving a Eagle mask. While carving outside the Sealaska Heritage building in the out crop area a buddy of mine Donald Gregory stopped by on his coffee break. He told me that from his angle the mask looked like an Octopus beak. I looked at it and said your right. So the Eagle mask turned into this Octopus mask.
This is a mask that Fred carved. He wants to make a larger version of it, but add different finished details, since he has more cedar wood to work with
Fred Jr. is learning to carve from his dad. Here were faceting the mask, getting it ready for a design.
